Why Resort to Forgery?

Oh, the outrage! Er, the increasingly proven-to-be-fake outrage over the proposed cap and trade legislation.

If the whole idea of cap and trade is so outrageous, you'd would think people would be lining up to let Congress know the error of their ways. So you have to wonder why Bonner and Associates, a Washington lobbying group working to the American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity, a pro-coal lobbying group, had to resort to forgery to produce petitions warning legislators that the humble masses are ixnay on the idea. And not even a good forgery, at that. It appears someone over at B and A didn't do their homework, because one of the letters sent to Tom Perriello (D-Va) was from the Charlottesville branch of the American Association of University Women. Only, it turns out that C-ville doesn't have a branch. Ooopsy! Add to that five letters from non-existent members of the Charlottesville NAACP. Makes me wonder if those anti-cap and trade letters to the editor in the Charlottesville Daily Progress are from real people.
